Town Poem They put us in cabins Because houses aren’t good enough They have us in the fields We’re picking up fluff They have us wait at the bus stop We wait for an hour or more Us coloreds Never get what we ask for We have to walk everywhere
No room to park
This is ridiculous
Just because I am dark Why can’t we just one family This is not Gods view This isn’t right If only those white men knew
They put us in cabins
Because houses aren’t good enough
They have us in the fields
We’re picking up fluff
They have us wait at the bus stop
We wait for an hour or more
Us coloreds
Never get what we ask for
We have to walk everywhere
No room to park
This is ridiculous
Just because I am dark
Why can’t we just one family
This is not Gods view
This isn’t right
If only those white men knew
